Following the success of its first "Women in IT Advantage Session" held in August, the UK's largest graduate employer, FDM Group, last night opened its doors once again to women interested in pursuing an IT career. The event, held in Manchester for the first time, was led by FDM's Chief Operating Officer, Sheila Flavell, who opened the session by speaking about the concerning lack of women in the IT industry. Although we may be a while off in the workforce, we're certainly setting a trend at University. A recent report by the BBC, delving into the decline in University applications this year, has pointed out that more women are applying for courses than men. Are we surprised? Not necessarily. From an early age girls prove themselves to enjoy academia, being attentive to their homework demands, striving for better grades and decorating and organising their folders diligently.
