Decisions, Decisions

Do you ever wonder if you have made the right career choice? And think to yourself at what point is too far in your career to make a change? I find it very reassuring to hear that more and more individuals are changing their career at fairly advanced times in their life. The ability to go back to university or college as a Mature Student (I hate the way it makes you sound so old; I'm not old I'm just slightly older than I was when I first went to University). I guess in my head I have an age where
Looking back...
Wednesday, 11 May 2011
Having blogged about my experience as a woman at work I thought it would be interesting to take a look back into the days when perhaps women weren't at work, or were just beginning to get work. Of course women in work is such a norm to us, with some even being the sole bread winner of a family, it is easy to forget how different it was going back 150 years to Victorian Britain. Think of a time as a women when you have used stereotyping to your advantage and pulled out the 'I need a man card'; it's easy to do isn't it? I know many times when I've done it just because I can. It was always the way with heavy boxes; the shipment would come in and I
You want to look smart, but not try too hard!

So the interview day is looming, the nerves are creeping up and the pressure is starting to mount. Yet, speaking from experience, my biggest concern is what to wear. Your chosen outfit can have the greatest of impacts upon first impressions and potentially the decision of whether to accept you for the job; crazy but unfortunately true. You want to look smart, but not try too hard; you want to wear your 'lucky' dress but is it too short...and so on. I have often been given the same advice, politically correct or not, to dress according to who the interviewer simply
