Top 35 Young Women

Tuesday, 27th of July 2010

Management Today offers inspiration for all graduate women. Recently it published its top list of women to watch under 35 years old. Intriguingly it was a blend of corporate success stories and entrepreneurs. Women are starting their own businesses more than ever but there is no better preparation than a solid decide in a successful thriving business it seems.

Entrepreneurs aside there are a couple of other interesting trends; nearly a third of those highlighted came from the creative industries, an area which is often over-looked by graduates keen to forge a career and a growing number of women high fliers emanate from the financial services industries where women have traditionally taken a back seat. No more it seems. FS illuminaries range from one at JP Morgan to HSBC and a couple of smaller institutions alongside. It's great to see women taking a firm foothold in this primarily male-dominated environment.

Other than that the spread is wide. What is clear is that women are forging their own path; the list has its share of beauty and dance and also includes successes like creating an accessories business from recycled materials, starting a business at 16, listing a business on AIM, tutoring at Harvard, starting a recognised networking group for women in IT - the list is endless.

The message from this list? You can do what you want in life so long as it's realistic and you want it enough. More and more women are doing exactly what they like and they are doing it really well. To catch a glimpse of role models you could follow check out an abridged version of the article or nip down to the Library. What will you do to be a women to watch under 35 in ten years time?
