Yorkshire graduates are to get the opportunity to boost their CV credentials with paid work experience placements.

Graduates from the region will be offered paid 12-week internships at local companies, in areas such as marketing, IT, engineering and design.

As part of the scheme, being run by the University of Huddersfield, graduates will work a 37-hour week.

They will also receive a wage of £300 a week thanks to funding from regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and the Higher Education Funding Council for England.

The scheme is aimed at providing graduates with experience in the workplace.

The placements are open to all graduates in Yorkshire who completed their studies at a UK university in the last 18 months.

Andrew Stainton, from Huddersfield University's careers and employability service, said: "Internships are a great way for recent graduates to gain real experience, develop their skills and prove their potential."
