Graduates looking for customer-facing jobs will be interested to learn that Sky plans to open a new customer service centre in Sheffield, creating 500 posts.
News of the jobs was first announced by the broadcaster in October, but the company has kept the location of the centre a secret until now.
The jobs in Sheffield comprise one third of the total new customer service posts Sky plans to create across the UK.
The news will be a boost to the region, given the gloom from the Government's public sector spending cuts.
Recruitment for management positions will begin immediately and customer advisor positions will be advertised from April onwards.
Sky's parent company BSkyB chipped in with the good news on Thursday, by announcing that operating profits for the half year rose 26% to £520 million.
Chris Stylianou, director of Sky Customer Contact Centres, said: "We're very pleased to be coming to Sheffield. It is an exciting time for us as a business; we are performing well, provide excellent customer service and as a result need more of the right people to work with us.
"We have picked Sheffield for its pool of talented prospective employees and its good transport links. We look forward to recruiting a great team here in Sheffield and making a real contribution to the local community."
