US fashion retailer Forever 21 will be on the lookout for graduates hoping to forge a career in retail and management if plans for a new store in Liverpool city centre are approved.
A planning application has been submitted by Royal London Asset Management to demolish a building on the corner of Whitechapel and Church Street and build a new five-storey shop for the retailer on the site.
Building work on the project, which would create around 200 new jobs, will start in September if the proposals are approved. Designs for the building have already been drawn up by architects DLG.
Forever 21, which currently only has one UK-based store in Birmingham, is looking to expand in Britain with new stores set to open in London and Glasgow in addition to the proposed Liverpool site.
Larry Meyer, executive vice president for Forever 21, said: "This location in Liverpool is another strong step of our expansion within the UK and Europe. We are extremely excited to have found a great store space in a location where our customers will appreciate our brand.
"The size of this store will allow us to offer a great range of products at great value to fashion conscious and trend driven shoppers in the area."
Drew Watkins, senior fund manager for Royal London Asset Management, said: "This is a very exciting project for Royal London Asset Management and we are delighted to have the opportunity of working with such a prestigious retailer as Forever 21, with whom our design team has collaborated closely."
