A number of UK graduates are likely to gain jobs with energy firm Scottish Power in the coming decade, as part of the company's plans to upgrade its existing electricity network north of the border.
Some 1,500 employment roles will be created as a result of the upgrade proposals, with £3 billion due to be spent on improvement work.
Graduate apprentices and engineers will be sought by the organisation. Meanwhile, numerous under-25s will be retrained so they can fill very skilled jobs.
Frank Mitchell, chief executive of Scottish Power Energy Networks, said: "Massive investment is required to ensure that Scotland's electricity network is fit for purpose for the 21st century."
Nearly one fifth of Scottish Power's substation equipment is now set to be upgraded over the next 10 years, while improvements will also be made to 500 miles (805km) of overhead lines.
