Engineering graduates looking to work in the oil and gas sector will be pleased to hear that 500 jobs are to be created by a global oil services firm in the UK over the next 12 months.
Aker Solutions is expecting grow its business "substantially" over the next year, after the firm experienced a 19% rise in orders since the beginning of 2011.
The plans will see it recruit 300 workers for its operation in Aberdeen and 200 for a new engineering centre in west London.
The market outlook for the UK and Norwegian North Sea area remains strong, according to the firm. And further afield, operations in Brazil, West Africa and Asia Pacific continue to be favourable.
Most of the 200 Aberdeen posts will be dealing with subsea technology, while a bid to extend the field life of its North Sea oil platforms will see the firm create a further 70 posts involved in maintenance and upgrading work.
Technical and ancillary workers are also need for the Norway-listed firm's Aberdeen office.
Aker's Chiswick Park operation in west London will house 200 engineering personnel, with the aim of adding 300 humdred more by 2015.
