Accountancy firm PwC has just completed its most recent phase of graduate recruitment by taking on 100 people at its premises in the Midlands, with new candidates for next year having the chance to apply at the end of September.
Overall the firm has recruited a record 1,200 people from the 33,000 applications it recently received for its student programme.
Newly inducted graduates will take part in community volunteer projects around the UK for their first week with the company, to strengthen PwC's new focus on sustainability. Midlands incomers are fundraising for Birmingham Children's Hospital, which needs money for its Heart Appeal.
The graduates will work in various PwC departments: actuarial, advisory, assurance, consulting, legal and tax.
And, for the first time, around 40 new-starts will be given technology-related jobs, such as information security and the testing of IT systems.
PwC's next intake, for 2012, has 1,800 places for people doing A levels, along with those wishing to do an internship or simply secure a full-time job with the firm.
