Graduates can expect more job openings after a major UK retail chain announced its plans to open a £15 million department store in York by 2013.
The new John Lewis project is expected to create around 300 new job vacancies.
Located in the proposed Monks Cross development, which is owned by Oakgate, the 100,000 sq ft store will focus on fashion, home and consumer electronics products.
According to Andy Street, MD of John Lewis, the new format will make shopping more convenient for their loyal customers in York who have had to travel to other cities for John Lewis stores.
He further said: "By bringing these growth opportunities into communities such as York, John Lewis will create more than 300 jobs for local people. We are committed to continuing to invest in 'bricks and mortar', particularly as we know that new shops stimulate our brand presence and online sales."
