166 jobs created at camera firm - graduate jobs

Graduates can expect more job opportunities in Northern Ireland after a design and manufacturing company based in west Belfast unveiled plans to create 166 job openings.

Andor technology announced the £18 million investment, which is part of a five-year strategy to increase the firm's turnover more than twofold by growing existing sales channels and widening its portfolio of products to include mid-price cameras.

Arlene Foster, the enterprise minister, marked the company's announcement.

Invest NI has offered £1.5 million in support and is in discussion with the company regarding potential backing for training, plus research and development activities.

The camera firm started in 1989 as a spin-off from Queen's University now employs more than 230 staff in Northern Ireland and 321 world-wide.

The company will also establish the Andor Learning and Development Academy, which is supported by the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) through its Assured Skills programme.
