Graduate jobs and career opportunities should be promoted more widely by financial planning employers, an insurance body has urged.
The call comes from the Chartered Insurance Institute and president Julian James, who said the vitality and long-term viability of financial planning must be ensured by looking to the next generation - even though talent is traditionally drawn from inside the profession
Financial planning offers advice to high-net-worth individuals and usually small to medium-sized companies.
The issues it might focus on are pension planning, investments and savings, estate planning, insurance, mortgage and property services and tax matters.
The sector could provide a good alternative route for graduates seeking a career in wealth management, and high-performing experienced planners are said to be worth six-figure salaries.
It resembles, in this way, big banks' wealth management services (private banking) wings
For instance, graduates at the Welbeck Group can earn £40,000 in the first year, although this is conditional on meeting targets.
