Industrial Operations: Purchasing

Purchasing sits within our new Industrial Operations function. Our Industrial Operations function incorporates all teams across manufacturing, purchasing and supply chain and consolidates accountability for the complete ecosystem of how we produce our vehicles, in one place.

Purchasing

Our global purchasing team ensures excellent performance from our suppliers to give us the competitive edge. We create value by relentlessly focusing on quality, cost, delivery, innovation and sustainability. Bringing together vehicle design and engineering as well as our suppliers, we manage the supply of components into our manufacturing plants to create luxurious products that delight our customers.

On the Industrial Operations: Purchasing Graduate Programme you could work in one of the following departments. You will be allocated to a department based on personal preferences and business need.

Supplier Technical Assistance (STA)

The STA team is responsible for supplier quality throughout our vehicle portfolio, interacting with every part that goes into our cars. Developing your manufacturing and problem-solving skills, you will manage quality concerns from new vehicle introduction through to warranty support and will quickly develop relationships with key contacts across Jaguar Land Rover and our supplier base. During your scheme, you will complete a number of placements and work on a variety of projects, ranging from approving supplier manufacturing processes for parts to delivering new initiatives for established vehicle lines.

Global Purchasing

Our purchasing teams operate in international markets, negotiating complex commercial deals. You’ll enjoy total involvement from day one as a graduate buyer, taking on your own portfolio of commodities and responsibilities. This is a business-critical area that presents challenges as diverse as our products, from developing supplier strategies to managing relationships, sourcing new products and negotiating costs. Process improvement and sustainability are key challenges for us: essential to driving innovation and achieving our world-leading ambitions. And our relentless focus on learning more and thinking bigger means you’ll develop outstanding negotiating and influencing skills along the way whilst taking on a diverse range of placements.

What’s required?

To join STA, you will need to hold or be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in engineering, materials science, manufacturing or any science, technology, engineering or maths (STEM) discipline.

To join Global Purchasing, you will need to hold or be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in business, economics, supply chain and logistics or any STEM discipline.

For both programmes, you will require strong numerical and analytical abilities plus the drive and determination to make things happen in a fast-moving environment. As you will regularly travel between sites and to suppliers, a full driving licence is also essential.

Rewards and benefits

We haven’t yet confirmed our 2023 graduate programme salary, but in 2022 this was £29,000.
