The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Education have designed a 3-month
Teacher Training Programme (TTP) for Graduates upon arrival in the UAE.
The structured program will provide Graduates training on the specific
Curriculum, Daily School Structure, Classroom Management etc.
Support will be provided by Teacher Trainers and qualified Teachers.
One of the more recent developments in the Learning and Development Unit
(LDU) has been the introduction of a graduate scheme.
This innovative scheme takes engineering and computer science graduates
through an intensive course designed to equip those new to the teaching
profession with the knowledge, skills and strategies to perform
effectively in a classroom situation.
In accordance with the directive from HE Hussain Al Hammadi, UAE
Minister for Education and in line with the UAE’s 2021 Vision to
continue to develop a first-rate education system in which teachers
provide
first-class learning using the latest teaching methods, the Teacher
Training Program (TTP) aims to qualify University graduates to teach in
the school system. While university graduates are conversant in their
subject, further training is needed in order to utilise their knowledge
to become competent teachers and educators.
The accreditation of this programme aligns with the UAE National
Occupational Skills Standards for Teaching. The course, open to
graduates who have successfully passed or are graduating with a subject
specific, literacy and numeracy test, is a combination of ‘in class’
learning and practical application in a school setting (school
placement).
Graduates of the program have been successfully placed in middle and
high schools in recent months and have very quickly become valuable
assets within the school communities.
